Freind of mine just downloaded the game and replaced the correct files and allowed the online.exe through his firewalls etc etc and when he tries to start the game he gets an error code 2. His pc uses windows 7. And hes using the correct exe. Any idea how to fix this?

Is he even getting the to the mainmenu of the game?

Set online.exe to run as administrator within the properties of online.exe (this should start psobb.exe as admin also when you click "Start Game"). Or you could just set psobb.exe to run as admin if you aren't using the launcher. Whitelist psobb.exe in your AV also allow all traffic for psobb.exe in your firewall.

To rule out your AV and Firewall you could disable them both temporarily then try running the game.

No. The screen flashes black as it starts to load then gives that messege. He has the online.exe allowed through his AV/firewall and it still gives the same error.

Sounds like it could be a DirectX issue. Select options from the launcher and try setting windowed if it already isn't set.

Check the log folder within the PSO folder and open the error.log file and see if there are any errors logged.
